Under the guidance of an experienced supervisor, second- and third-year students can step out of the classroom and gain practical experience working in a legal office in one of Penn State Law's externship programs. General externships allow students to continue taking courses while working with federal judges, state or federal government agencies, and public interest or nonprofit organizations. Interested students also should speak to students currently participating in the program. For a full-immersion experience, students may apply for the Semester in Washington, Semester in Harrisburg, or the International Justice Externship programs. The application for participation and Information for Externship Placements are available online. Applications for the Fall 2014 semester are due by March 9, 2014.
