A Message from the Public Interest Law Fund

Dear Alumni and Friends:

The student leaders of the Public Interest Law Fund (PILF) are pleased to invite alumni to participate in our annual PILF fundraising auctions. This spring we will hold live auctions in Carlisle on March 29, 2012, and in University Park (date to be announced), as well as a weeklong online auction.

PILF is a nonprofit, student-run organization that encourages students to work for nonprofit legal organizations or government agencies through the Degenstein Foundation Fellowship Program for Public Interest Law and Cherie M. Millage Summer Fellowships. PILF’s annual auction serves as the organization’s largest fundraising event. All money raised goes directly to fund student summer employment with public interest firms and organizations that desperately need student assistance but do not have the resources to compensate summer interns. Last year, we provided fifteen fellowships to public service-minded students, and this year we hope to provide more with your help.

Here is how you can help: Support PILF’s auctions by donating gift certificates, novelty items, apparel, accommodations, experiential opportunities, and/or sports and entertainment event tickets. We are also accepting tax-deductible cash donations. We will place the name of your business in our auction’s program as a way of thanking you for your generous support.

If you are interested in donating an item or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Rachel Keung, the University Park Auction Chair at or Alisha Falberg, the Carlisle Auction Chair at All donations must be received by February 22, 2012. If you prefer to support PILF with a tax-deductible cash contribution, please make your check payable to Penn State University, insert PILF Auction as the memo, and mail to the attention of PILF, The Pennsylvania State University, The Dickinson School of Law, Lewis Katz Hall, 333 West South Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.

Thank you for your consideration. With your help, we can make this year’s auction the most successful yet.
