In addition to teaching Legal Analysis, Research and Writing, Professor Vollmer also directs Penn State Law’s Explore Law program that provides an introductory experience for selected Penn State undergraduates. Professor Vollmer worked at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 1997 to 2008 as a senior counsel in the Division of Enforcement and in the Office of the General Counsel, Litigation and Administrative Practice. In the Enforcement Division, she managed complex financial fraud and insider trading enforcement investigations and litigation, including the SEC’s financial fraud investigations of Waste Management, Inc. from 1998 to 1999 and Enron Corporation from 2002 to 2008. She received an award from the Department of Justice in July 2006 for her work on assisting the Enron Task Force with its criminal prosecutions. In the General Counsel’s Office, she represented the SEC in a wide range of federal trial and appellate courts, as well as administrative actions involving claims against the SEC.
Prior to her joining the SEC she was a partner at Annis, Mitchell, Cockey, Edwards & Roehn, P.A., a mid-sized full service firm in Tampa, Florida, practicing as a civil litigation trial attorney from 1990 to 1997.
