Palestine Works: A Discussion with Founder Omar Shehabi

Omar Shehabi, founder of Palestine Works will talk about his on-the-ground experience with human rights issues in Palestine and Israel and building a new human rights organization. Palestine Works has partnered with more than 15 human rights organizations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel offering legal internships this summer. Palestine Works supplements these internships with an orientation on international law as it applies to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, weekend programs throughout Palestine and Israel, and legacy projects including scholarships, conferences and creative endeavors.

Shehabi is a graduate of University of Notre Dame Law School and has worked as a union-side labor lawyer in Los Angeles and Chicago. While at Notre Dame, Omar interned with the United Nations Development Programme as a trade and labor law consultant to the Palestinian Authority's Ministry of National Economy. He was also a teaching assistant at Notre Dame in courses on the Arab-Israeli conflict and the United Nations system.
