Matt Baldwin, an attorney with IMG who represents college coaches, will discuss his experiences at a big Four sports firm, including legal issues regarding contracts, economics of the market for college coaches, endorsement deals, ethical issues, recruiting, and relationship to the media.

Biography: Baldwin is currently serving as the Senior Associate of IMG’s Coaches Division, where his responsibilities include: client management, contract negotiation, media relations, database administration and strategic marketing. During his tenure at IMG, Baldwin has been involved in the negotiation or renegotiation of more than 200 employment contracts.

Baldwin is a registered member of the State Bar of Ohio and the State Bar of Minnesota, and is an active member of the Sports Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association. Baldwin has served as an expert witness for the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New York and has accepted a position on the Board of Advisors of the University of Baltimore, School of Law’s Sports Law Institute. Prior to joining IMG in 2004, Baldwin received his juris doctorate from the University of Toledo, College of Law, where he focused on sports law, contracts and negotiation and settlement. Baldwin received his bachelor of arts from Rice University in 2000, where he was a four-year letterman, three-year starter and team captain on the varsity football team, and was named to the 1999 GTE Academic All-American team.
