THE FUTURE OF INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE —

Evolving Accountability from Nuremberg

to the International Court of Justice

October 30, 2006


On Monday, October 30, the Law School hosted “The Future of International Criminal Justice” symposium featuring renowned international criminal law and human rights experts. All lectures, with the exception of the keynote address, took place in the BAB Building in University Park, and were teleconferenced to the Advantica Building in Carlisle. Keynote speaker The Honorable Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, delivered her address "Rule of Law and International Human Rights in Challenging Times."

Ambassador Herbert Okun
, Deputy Permanent Representative and Ambassador of the United States to the United Nations (1985-1989); Ambassador to the German Democratic Republic (1980-1983); Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the former Yugoslavia (1991-1996). U.S. member of U.N. International Narcotics Control Board (1992-2002). Ambassador Okun has been a visiting lecturer of international law at Yale Law School and is currently a professorial lecturer on international relations, international law and international institutions at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C.
