Why Penn State?
In 2005, Penn State created the Institute of Arbitration Law and Practice to promote the study of and scholarship in arbitration law and practice. The Institute is the first organization of its kind among U.S. law schools and attests to the University’s growing area of expertise in the field of arbitration. Both directors of the Summer Program, Professor Thomas E. Carbonneau and Professor Frederic Bachand, are members of the Institute.
The program’s host, McGill Law Faculty, is a world renowned institution with a long-standing reputation in the comparative study of law and bijural legal education. It sees arbitration as central to its historical mission and the new gateway to global law and legal practice. McGill provides a top quality setting for the Summer Program and its reputation attracts the best Canadian scholars and practitioners who give informative and lively lectures.
Upon successful completion of the program, students are issued a certificate signed by both Directors of the program.
