The Carlisle campus in Carlisle, Pennsylvania is the original home of the Dickinson School of Law, which was founded in 1834. A 20-minute drive from Harrisburg, which is the capital of Pennsylvania, Carlisle places students within easy driving distance of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the Pennsylvania General Assembly, and many state agencies. Carlisle is within a two-hour drive to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Baltimore.

Carlisle is also home to Dickinson College and the U.S. Army War College, which provide opportunities for educational events. Penn State joint degree programs are available at Penn State’s Harrisburg campus and through the University Park campus, within a two-hour drive. Forbes magazine recently ranked the area among the top 100 places for families based on safety, affordability and educational prospects. The Carlisle/ Harrisburg region boasts a wide array of attractions and entertainment including the world famous Milton S. Hershey Resort, sports, concerts, arts, and theatrical performances. The area also offers a variety of outdoor activities such as golfing, skiing, hiking, fishing, camping, and boating.


The historic Trickett Hall in Carlisle was recently renovated and a new Lewis Katz Hall was added. Lewis Katz Hall features state-of-the-art classrooms, a new courtroom technologically equipped to display evidence electronically, an outdoor courtyard, and an environmentally friendly vegetated green roof. Trickett Hall houses the law school's H. Laddie Montague Jr. Law Library.  It features a reading room that overlooks the green roof and private group study rooms.

Specifically designed to accommodate global legal education, all Penn State Law facilities have state-of-the-art AV equipment that allows real-time audio connection to programs and speakers anywhere on the globe.
